the VI Peel?
A chemical peel lifts away the damaged outer layers of skin so that fresher skin can take their place. The VI Peel, made by The Vitality Institute, is a medium-depth peel built from a blend of five acids in smaller amounts than a conventional peel uses, so it works deeper in the skin without the damage and long healing time of a stronger peel.
It treats fine lines and wrinkles, acne and acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, enlarged pores, and dull skin. And where many peels are only considered safe for the lightest three Fitzpatrick types, the VI Peel was formulated for all six, so medium and deeper skin tones get the same benefit.
The whole cycle takes about a week. Mild redness for two days, peeling on days three to six, and by day seven the new skin is through.
There is more than one VI Peel. Your provider chooses the formula for your concern at the consultation, and if a peel is not the right tool for your skin, says so.
Most peels are only effective, and only considered safe, on skin types I to III. The VI Peel was formulated for all six, which is why it is the peel Rewind offers, on every skin tone.

The VI Peel is a full-face treatment. Where it earns its keep depends on your concern: pigment gathers on the cheeks, lines on the forehead and around the eyes, breakouts along the jaw. The Body formula extends the same peel below the neck.

The formula and the number of peels in your series are set at the consultation, so you get one clear number before anything is scheduled. Payment plans through Cherry are available.
Your skin is cleansed and the solution is applied. You leave with the peel on and go back to your day. Most people feel mild tingling or warmth while it is applied.
Increased blood flow leaves the skin a little red, and it may look a shade tanned. Nothing has started to lift yet, so these are easy days to be out.
This is when most of the shedding happens, light or heavy depending on your skin and the formula. Let it come off on its own, keep it moisturized, and stay out of direct sun.
By day seven the peel is complete and the new skin is through: smoother, brighter, more even. More mature or sensitive skin may take until day ten. In a series, peels are spaced four to six weeks apart.

How long does a VI Peel session take?

Is there downtime?
Not the two-week kind that deeper peels demand. You can go about your day after your appointment. The peeling itself happens at home over roughly a week, and most people plan around days three to six, when the shedding is heaviest.

Can I pull off skin that is hanging while I peel?
Please don’t. Pulling or scrubbing skin before it is ready irritates the new skin underneath. Let it shed on its own and keep it moisturized.
What are the side effects?
Redness, tightness, and flaking as the skin sheds, plus some sensitivity to sun while the new skin comes in. Those are the peel working, not a complication. Your provider goes over what to watch for before you leave.
What is the aftercare?
Keep the skin hydrated, wear broad-spectrum SPF every day, and set aside retinol and exfoliating products for a few days after the peel. Do not pick or scrub, and stay out of direct sun while the new skin comes in.
How often can I have a VI Peel?
Peels in a series are spaced four to six weeks apart, which gives the skin time to renew between them. Acne and acne scarring usually call for three to six peels, hyperpigmentation for three to five. Once you have the result you want, one or two peels a year help maintain it.
