Wrinkles & Fine Lines

Some lines only show when you frown or smile. Others stay put when your face is still. They call for different treatments, and a consultation is where we work out which you have.

What’s
going on?

Wrinkles come in two kinds, and telling them apart decides the treatment. Motion lines show when you frown, squint, or raise your brows, then fade when your face relaxes. Etched lines stay put when your face is still, set in by years of the same expressions and by the collagen the skin has lost.

The treatments split the same way. Botox relaxes the small muscles whose repeated movement creases the skin, so motion lines soften. Etched lines need the skin itself rebuilt: RF microneedling, laser resurfacing, and PRP microneedling each trigger new collagen where the line has settled, with the surface left intact.

Treating a line while it only shows on movement also helps keep it from becoming one you can see at rest.

Both kinds often appear together. At the consultation your provider reads your lines at rest and in motion, then matches the plan to your skin and your downtime, and will say so if a treatment is not going to get you there.

Forehead lines, the elevens between the brows, and crow's feet that appear on expression and fade at rest. These point to Botox, which relaxes the muscle making the crease.

Creases you can see in a relaxed, neutral photo. These point to collagen rebuilding: RF microneedling for depth, laser resurfacing for texture and tone, or PRP microneedling, which uses your own plasma and carries the lowest pigment-change risk for deeper skin tones.

Botox for the motion lines and one collagen treatment for what has already set in work on different layers, and they can be planned together. The consultation decides the order and the spacing.

Relax the muscle, rebuild the skin

Every wrinkle treatment here works on one of two layers. Botox works on the muscle. A few precise injections quiet the repeated contractions that fold the skin in the first place, so the forehead lines, the elevens, and crow's feet are creased far less often. The skin above the muscle gets to rest, and motion lines soften. Your injector watches your face move before placing anything and doses conservatively, so you keep your expressions.

Etched lines need the second layer: the skin itself. RF microneedling delivers radiofrequency heat through fine needles into the dermis, where it tightens the collagen already there and triggers more of it. Laser resurfacing, the other half of the same Secret DUO device, repairs from underneath with a 1540 nm laser at a depth your provider sets, and leaves the surface intact, so there is no peeling and no week indoors.

PRP microneedling works without heat. Needling alone prompts new collagen; your own platelet-rich plasma, applied over the fresh channels, strengthens that response, and it carries the lowest pigment-change risk for deeper skin tones. It suits early fine lines, and if your lines call for more depth than needling alone can give, your provider will suggest RF microneedling instead.

Quick wins versus deeper repairs

Botox is the low-commitment end: no downtime, the first change in three to five days, the full effect at two weeks, and a face that still moves when it is dosed well. The tradeoff is maintenance. Results last three to four months, so smoothness becomes a standing appointment rather than a one-time fix. If you have not had it before, what to expect at a Botox appointment walks through the visit.

The collagen treatments run the other direction. RF microneedling is usually a course of three to four sessions, four to six weeks apart, each about 30 minutes with little to no downtime; laser resurfacing asks for redness that fades by the next day; PRP microneedling is a series of at least three. They take longer to show, because the collagen has to be built, but they change the skin itself rather than relaxing a muscle for a season.

Many people have both kinds of lines, which is why a plan often pairs Botox for motion with one collagen treatment for what has already set in. The consultation is where your provider reads your lines at rest and in motion, then matches the plan to your downtime and your calendar. If a treatment is not going to get you the result you want, we will say so.
