dermal fillers?
As we age the face gradually loses collagen and volume, which is why cheeks flatten, temples and under-eyes hollow, and the face can read as tired when you are not. Dermal filler is a smooth gel made from hyaluronic acid, a substance your body already produces, placed beneath the skin to restore that lost volume or to add definition where you want it.
Filler does more than fill. In the cheeks it lifts. Under the eyes it softens the shadows that make you look tired. At the chin it balances a profile, and in the nose it can refine the shape without surgery. The change is visible immediately and settles over the following days.
Our injectors, Naomi Kapoor, PA-C, and Patricia Joseph, RN, work in small amounts with a fine needle or a blunt cannula, checking symmetry as they go. Lips get their own approach on the lip filler page.
We will not sell you a syringe you don’t need. If one area will do more for your face than three, that is what we will recommend, and if filler won’t get you the result you want, we will say so.
The fillers we use are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid gels. They draw in water, feel soft and natural in the skin, are gradually absorbed over time, and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if ever needed.
Where the filler goes matters more than how much. A small amount on the cheekbone lifts the mid-face; a small amount at the chin balances a profile. Your injector plans placement around your bone structure.
Every syringe is placed by a physician assistant or registered nurse who has reviewed your health history and medications, and who explains what they are doing as they go.
The change is visible before you leave and refines over the next week or two as any swelling settles. Depending on the area and product, results last from six months to two years.
When you look tired in every photo and you are not tired, filler makes its case.
Whether filler is right for you, and where, is something we decide together at the consultation. Your injector looks at your bone structure and where volume has gone, then tells you plainly what one syringe will and will not do. If filler is not the right answer, you will hear that too.

Some swelling, redness, or a small bruise is normal and usually settles within a day or two. Avoid touching the area or exercising hard for 24 hours, sleep with your head raised, and hold off on facials, massages, and saunas for a few days.

Will it look natural?
That is the whole aim, every time. Filler is placed in small amounts where your face has lost volume or support, matched to your features rather than a trend. A good result restores what was there and leaves people thinking you look well rested, not that you have had something done.
How long does a session take?
Most filler appointments take 30 to 45 minutes, including numbing time. Your first visit starts with a free 45-minute consultation, and if you and your injector agree on a plan, treatment can happen the same day.
Does it hurt?
A numbing cream goes on before treatment and is given time to work. Most people describe the injections as pressure or a brief pinch rather than pain.
What are the swelling stages like?
Expect some swelling and possibly a small bruise for a day or two, most noticeable the morning after. The area then settles over the following days, and the final result is what you see once the swelling has fully gone, usually within a week or two.
Is there any downtime?
Very little. You can go back to your day right away. For the first 24 hours avoid touching or pressing on the area and skip hard exercise, and hold off on saunas, facials, and massages for a few days. Sleeping on your back with your head raised for the first nights helps with swelling.
How long do results last?
It depends on the area and the product. Facial filler typically lasts anywhere from six months to two years, and areas like the cheeks and chin usually need a top-up every 18 to 24 months. Your injector will tell you what to expect for the area you are treating, and will not ask you back sooner than you need.
Can filler be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed, which is one reason it is the type we use. Either way, filler is gradually absorbed by your body over time.
Can I combine filler with Botox?
Yes, and it is common to do both in one visit. Filler restores volume and structure, while Botox relaxes the muscles that crease the upper face. Your injector plans the two together so each does its own job.
