lip filler?
Lip filler is a soft hyaluronic acid gel, the same substance your body already makes, placed in small amounts to shape, balance, or add volume to the lips. Hyaluronic acid holds water, so the result feels hydrated and moves naturally when you talk and smile.
The lips people admire are rarely the biggest ones. They are defined at the border, balanced top to bottom, and even side to side. That is where we start. Volume comes after shape, and only as much as your features carry.
Our injectors, Naomi Kapoor, PA-C, and Patricia Joseph, RN, treat the lips in a 15 to 30 minute visit and explain each placement as they go. You see the change before you leave, and the final result once the first days of swelling settle.
If you want a subtle change nobody can name, we can do that. If you want more than your face will carry well, we will tell you, and we will not sell you a syringe you don’t need.
Defining the border and evening out asymmetry does more for most lips than volume alone. Filler is added a little at a time, so you never end up further than you wanted to go.

The lips are cleansed and numbed. Your injector places small amounts of filler with a fine needle, checking shape and symmetry as they go and adjusting before you leave. Most people describe it as a slight pinch or pressure.
Lips swell for the first 48 to 72 hours and may bruise a little, so plan around any event. Avoid touching or massaging them, hard exercise, heat, and direct sun for 24 to 48 hours. You can go back to work the same day.

Will my lips look overdone?

How soon will I see results?
Immediately, though the lips swell for the first 48 to 72 hours, so what you see that day is a little more than you will keep. The final shape shows once the swelling has gone, at about one to two weeks.
How long does lip filler last?
Six to twelve months, depending on the product, how much was placed, and how quickly your body breaks it down. The lips move constantly when you talk and eat, which is one reason filler here does not last as long as in the cheeks. Most people book a touch-up every six to nine months, and we will not ask you back sooner than you need.
Can it be removed if I don’t like it?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Either way, lip filler is gradually absorbed over time and your lips return to their natural shape as it goes. It does not stretch them.
Will my lips feel different?
They may feel slightly firmer for the first week or two while the filler integrates with the tissue, then soften. Once settled, lips with filler feel like lips.
Am I too old, or too young, for lip filler?
Lip filler is not only for the young. In your twenties and thirties it is usually about shape and balance. Later on, it restores volume the lips lose with age and softens the fine vertical lines above them. You do need to be an adult, in good general health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding. Your injector goes through your health history at the consultation.
What is the aftercare?
Avoid touching or massaging your lips for 24 to 48 hours, and skip hard exercise, heat, and direct sun for the same period. Keep them moisturized and drink water. A lip balm with SPF helps your results last, since sun exposure breaks filler down faster.
